​For anyone at a loose end this coming weekend, July 2nd and 3rd, the Teckelgarth Otterhounds will be appearing at The Cotswold Show, Cirencester Park, Gloucestershire, and would love to see you. We will have our own stand as usual and will be making twice daily appearances in the Aspley Arena. Hope to see you there!

Have we seen the last of the disruption caused by the dreadful Covid? I sincerely hope so. There is so much to look forward to, with both Championship Dog shows and Game Fairs being held at the usual time of year instead of being cramped into 4 months! We have all missed out on our regular Otterhound social activities, and I aim to hold the walks on a much more regular basis from now on. There are new Teckelgarth Otterhound owners who haven't yet experienced the fun of promoting the breed at Game Fairs, or the fun we have in the evenings when the public have gone home and we are sat outside our caravans sharing numerous bottles of Prosecco, Henny's and Stella Artois! We didn't have any puppies to introduce to either the show ring or the Game Fairs last year, but we are looking forward to bringing out Ismay, Ingot and Indefatigable (Gable for short) in April when we attend the first Game Fair over the Easter weekend at Thame Show Ground.

Hoping you are all keeping well and safe during these very difficult times. Everyone at Teckelgarth is doing fine. I just wanted to write this to update you all on our newest venture, The Van Lady Pet Transport. We found ourselves with hounds which needed transporting during lockdown and seeing as we have the facilities to offer a pet courier service, why not! So if you or someone you know needs help transporting a dog within the UK, please do follow the link and get in touch.

Come and join us for a Walk and Summer Picnic (cold collation) at Titesworth Water, Meerbrook, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 8SW on Sunday 7th July, meeting at the car park at 11.00am.  The is a £5 charge for car parking for all day.

There are two walks, one of 4.5 miles taking us around the reservoir, and a shorter one of 1.5 miles, choice is upto the individual, and the weather!

Please bring your own folding chairs, picnic blankets etc.


There will probably be a puppy creche for baby puppies. TBC

Come and join us for an Otterhound Social Walk and  BBQ next to the River Wye, near Ganarew, Monmouth, on Sunday 23rd June meeting at 11.00am. Full address details will be sent to those who confirm attendance as the venue is a private home not a country park. We will be walking beside the river and might even get a river crossing! Stout walking shoes probably advisable.

Tilly Trotter has reared a beautiful litter of 5 boys and 1 girl to a very handsome young chap called Wyldtarn Shoot From The Hip, otherwise know as Toby. As there is only one girl, Annie, she will be staying, but some of the boys are ready for new permanent homes. If you would like to find out more please contact us via the contact email form. We are holding an Otterhound Social Walk, to be followed by a Breed Information Seminar on Sunday 18th March. We will meet in the Church Lodge car park (Dovecote), of the Ashton Estate,  Long Ashton, Bristol. BS41 9LX at 11.00am . The charge for parking is £1.20 per day. The usual lunch will be provided at a cost of £3 per person, which we can eat either at the venue or if the weather is inclement, at the Cathedral. Anyone who would like to attend a Breed Information Afternoon can come to the Cathedral where a room has been made available to us.

If you would like to attend please let me know by end of Thursday 15th March (Oh dear, do beware) so that I can cater for all. If you have any special dietary requirements do let me know. Please confirm by email or by phone on 01432 820001.

If the weather is too dangerous to travel I will cancel and inform everyone by email who has confirmed that they would attend.

The 2018 Teckelgarth Otterhound Calendar has arrived. Both wall and desk top calendars are available at a cost of £9.50 and £6.50 plus postage, respectively. Please contact me on via my website contact page, messenger through Facebook or maria.lerego@sky.com to place your order as soon as you can.  Hopefully there will be a few spare copies available at the Christmas Party, and I hope that most buyers will be able to collect their order that day. If you do know how many you require it would be very helpful to know before the close of the 25th November, so that I can order more if need be.

Surplus funds from the sale of our Teckelgarth Calendars will be used to support the Teckelgarth Semen Bank.
